Elin Carstensdottir, PhD in Computer Science from Northeastern University, is a human-computer interaction researcher and Assistant Professor at the University of California Santa Cruz.

Her research explores an array of topics including interactive narrative, intelligent virtual agents and virtual humans, video game design and development with a focus on narrative and AI, player experiences with AI in games, and social simulation. She is dedicated to studying and developing AI-augmented design and authoring tools for both academic and industry professionals within these domains, as well as developing research software and serious games aimed at education, health, and research.

Elin is currently affiliated with the Computational Media Department, Basking School of Engineering, University of California Santa Cruz, where she leads the Interaction Dynamics lab.
